Hollow Coves show the light on ‘Moments’
No matter who you are, where you’re at in life, and where you want to be, finding Hollow Coves’ music is the equivalent of finding a rare goldmine.
Their newest album ‘Moments’ is a sonic representation of what it feels like to lose yourself in a wave of confusion and loneliness, but later zoom out to realise the rest of the sea is filled with shades of love, hope and optimism.
Fuelled by life, and the resonant stories of those they encounter, opening track Anew is a call to all those struggling to remain hopeful as they work through their battles.
Hollow Coves have their pulse on the realities of mental illness, and use Anew as their message of optimism and keeping a sense of faith. The duo state, “suicide is the number one cause of death for Australians around our age… we felt compelled to write a song that would aim to speak hope into people’s lives and motivate them to keep going”.
Gentle melodies and spacious instrumentation all contribute to constructing a distinct scenery of the outdoors in its barest an most pristine state; rippling waves, majestic mountains and shimmering peaks. Specifically implanting this imagery into the listeners minds are tracks Run Away and Beauty in the Light.
Title track Moments infuses the sentiment that time is fleeting, and should not be wasted. The airy guitar strikes in its smoothness, sending one to visualise their lives through the lends of their best, worst and most defining memories.
Echoing the theme of nostalgia planted throughout the album is When We Were Young. Fluttering keys entwined with lush, heavenly guitar, the track thrusts away the pain that may weigh on us as we grow up with reflective lyrics on the innocence and naivety of being a child.
‘Moments’ is injected with uplifting and encouraging messaging, reflecting the purity and persona of Hollow Coves. Minimal, cozy guitar, and delicate melodies delivered by the duo is likely to leave you feeling as zen as ever, and wanting to live in a daydream.
Hollow Coves’ album ‘Moments’ is set for release on Friday 18 October.
