Track to Turn Up: Bad Pony ‘Villain’

Sydney’s loudest, most chaotic five-piece Bad Pony return with their newest single ‘Villain’. Coming off their solid groove of creativity for the most part of 2019, Bad Pony funnels their raucous and carefree musicianship into the 3-minute track.

Daring percussion and string, alongside an atmospheric sonic introduction to the track makes for an ominous, yet thrilling listening experience.

Lyrically, the song is “an existentialist walk down Grey St in St.Kilda. It’s a street renowned for night walkers, homelessness and drugs. I used to go through there at 5:30am in the morning every day to get to work and encountered people with some pretty serious drug and mental health problems. The song is about those people who are too often wrongly villainised”, says Bad Pony

Punchy and fuelled by grit, ‘Villain’ is a true reminder today that our biases must be checked. In its morbid, yet freeing nature, the track posits that if death is impending on us all, who are we to condemn?
