Millie Turner brings inspiration to pop on ‘Hide+Seek’ EP

Millie Turner bares her soul and unravels her truth on her second EP ‘Hide+Seek’. Seven tracks of Turner’s unique whispery-pop vocalsand introspective lyricism makes the EP a breakthrough. Shimmering, airtight vocals from Turner are a highlight of the spark and spirit the singer has to offer.

Opener and third single, January signals “a time where there’s this internal pressure to do more, be more, start again, relive your life, forget that you’re human… In reality I’m a mess and make mistakes all the time and this song is a parody for the reality that “January” brings”, says Turner. 

A celebration of imperfections and the way they define our humanity, Millie comments, “take me to January, where I can make more mistakes and live like a normal human growing and self improving in my own way. In the meantime I will spill the milk”.

A refreshingly honest opener is followed by forty-seconds of powerful and resonant spoken word poetry, placing Turner’s lyricism and eloquence in the upper echelons. Title track Hide+Seek offers a glimpse of a darker element to Turner as she paves out a sense of mystery through crisp, lo-fi styled production. 

‘Hide+Seek’ draws the curtains on Turner’s perception of the world, her view on the “kind of stressful and crazy” contemporary climate. In the midst of external disarray, Turner’s body of work presents her as a voice for authenticity, as her lyrics act as a beacon of hope for the world.
