Samsaruh is immovable on ‘I Am A Woman’
Samsaruh recognises International Women’s Day with her newest single I Am A Woman. The explosive rock and roll track divulges into the singer’s feisty and assertive identity.
To Samsaruh, “I Am A Woman stands for a lot of things, one of the most important things being the stigma around being a woman in rock. You’re either assigned to being just ‘one of the boys’ with a masculine perspective or you’re the complete opposite, a sex symbol.”
She continues, “I want I Am A Woman to encourage all women, young to old, that just because you love to flick your hair around, kick up the dust, yell the words like you never had a voice to lose and vibe to heavier music, doesn’t mean you are any less of a lady and should be treated any differently. And to the women in the music industry, to dress, speak, act, talk, walk the way you want to, not the way they want you to.”
Beginning with haunting, muffled vocals, I Am A Woman segues into an eruption of storm and passion, mirroring the singer’s womanhood and attitude toward her femininity and identity as a woman in the rock ecosystem. With the robust guitar supporting her expression of her immovability, the arrangements on the track swell in the chorus, further proving that she’s a force that is tenacious, and never easily dispelled.
