Aurelia X Deutsch Duke: Battleground II

Grammy nominated songwriter Aurelia projects her wishes and hopes for 2019 on her latest track ‘Battleground II’. Aurelia’s gentle, serene vocals mirror the substance of the track as she sings to foster unity and togetherness in a society faced with division and conflict.

The collaboration with singer, songwriter and producer Deutsch Duke sees Aurelia sing, ‘soldiers on the battleground breaking down the walls’. The track boasts an exceptionally contemporary and futuristic sonic created by minimalistic synths that resembles the devastation that we see nowadays. However, we see a hope in restoring our world through Aurelia’s graceful delivery as she calls for more cohesion.

Sewing together the many facets of the song is Aurelia’s lusty use of breath. Her breath control is a major standout, penetrating the idea of hope and peace in rebuilding our planet. ‘Battleground II’ creates an unusual ‘spacey’, otherworldly vibe, yet reeling it in is Aurelia’s optimistic reflection through lyricism and vocal expression.

Any New Years resolutions?

Drink more coffee, drink less coffee, drink more coffee. Lol. I’m praying for some more free time to get out and see some more live gigs. More training/less gluten free vegan chocolate cupcakes for Cupcake Central… Yeah

What were some of your favourite artist releases from 2018?

Mariah Carey did a track with Blood Orange called ‘Giving Me Life’ and it is for real giving me life. Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ was a revolution for me and I got to see Robert Plant live at The Palais touring his ‘Carry Fire’ album and will pretty much never be the same. Marry me Robert!

Do you have any live performances coming up?

I have some live performances coming up later in the year that I’m really excited about and I can’t wait to announce. I’m in rehearsal phase at the moment, so I’m pretty much living in the studio, which is my basically my dream life..

What music do you have in store for us in 2019?

I have some really cool collaborations in the pipeline, the first of which is Battleground II with Deutsch Duke. I spent the end of 2018 in a really amazing writing phase and am currently in and out of the studio recording some of my favourite music yet that will be coming out over the next few months.

Any final thoughts for the world in general in 2019?

I would like to declare a state of emergency on bike pants, cold coffee and con-artists. I’d say bad music as well, but I don’t want to be too inflammatory, and Maggie Rogers has come to save the day, so I think we’re in the clear for a little bit. But seriously, I think there is a state of emergency and I think we need to look out for each other more. More kindness, more love, more coffee. Lol.
