April brings her grace to debut EP ‘New Conditions’
Hailing from Ireland’s Kildare, singer-songwriter April releases her debut EP New Conditions. The debut is a gentle, hazy four-track collection of suffocating in love in all its pain and glory. April couples her faint, silky vocal with low-fi synths as she invites us into her universe of love and heartache.
Title track New Conditions, sees April construct a “dark love song… about using love as a means of escape from your own problems. When you fill your brain with thoughts about someone else it can stop the other things going on in your mind. It’s about questioning whether you actually are in love or not, or if you’re just pretending to yourself for peace of mind.”
April’s twelve-minute offering flips song-writing on its head, with her alluring lyricism being a vivid lens into her escapades with love and all its many dimensions. For now, April’s bedroom beats are micro, but it won’t be long before her nuanced perspective on life, love and the journey in between makes it to the big leagues.
