Baker Boy: In Control

Baker Boy (Danzal Baker) brings us a slice of his native language Yolngu Matha in his latest single ‘In Control’. An inspired Baker Boy sends a meaningful message of taking charge over your destiny and leading yourself to greatness.

Branching on from his characteristic verve and positivity, the rapper recruits the Thornbury Instrumental Music Experience Crew of Thornbury Primary to add an amplified energy to the track. With the inclusion of a young choir beside him, the hopes of children paving their own path is made even more real.

Further honouring his roots is Baker Boy’s cover art for the track. Borders of crosshatching are painted by Danzal’s father Josiah. The use of traditional painting style, once again stands as a testament of Danzal’s pride of himself and his heritage.

The rapper states, “painting in the style of crosshatching is symbolic of where I am from, North East Arnhem Land. I wanted to use this art style because it represents me and who I am, I want to show everyone out there that I am proud and I want to encourage them to also be proud of who they are and where they come from.”
