Jack Garratt returns to release ‘Time’
Time is of the essence for Jack Garratt, and the reasons are aplenty. Four years after releasing his first album, Garratt returns to the scene activated, appreciating the road it takes to fulfil his musical potential.
Describing his debut album as “busy and erratic”, Garratt has channeled his passion and belief in music into his own creativity on Love, Death & Dancing (Vol 1). The release of volume one is a sneak peak into the full-length sophomore album expected from Garratt on Friday 29 May.
Track one on the three-song offering, Time untangles the daunting relationship we have with time, with his lyricism affirming that time is not to be feared, but a construct to treasure.
Whilst ambivalence seeps its way into our relationship with time, Garratt uses Time to confront the make-believe battle we have against the clock. Dense guitar riffs and beating synths that give off the effect of courage, paired against woodwinds hugging Garratt’s voice show just how ready he is to forge ahead his new sound.
Of the upcoming album, Jack says, “I think this is the first time I’ve felt proud of the songs I’ve made. I wrote this album as someone – and for anyone – who likes dancing but doesn’t necessarily want to go out on a Saturday. It’s dance music for people who don’t want to go out! And that’s the music that I love: music that doesn’t care if you’re standing up or sitting down. It’s going to give it to you either way.”
