RINSE debuts with ‘Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me’

Joe Agius, under the moniker RINSE releases his debut single Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me. The frequent Hatchie collaborator recorded the clangy single in late 2019, enlisting Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Sky Ferreira) for mixing, and recruiting Heba Kadry (Björk, Slowdive) in the mastering department.

Peddling at his own material since 2012 in his parent’s Brisbane home, Agius describes the track by highlighting that, “sonically, it sits in the middle of a lot of the music I have been recording”.

Inspired by New Order and Echo & The Bunnymen, RINSE fuses his tender vocal and apt for soft melodies with his post-punk, new wave leaning instrumentation. The middle ground secured on the track is the “reason [Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me] feels like the right place to begin”, declares Agius.

The single is accompanied by a performance based music video shot by Nick Maguire, featuring his closest musical allies, including Harriette Pilbeam (Hatchie) on keys, Ritchie Daniell on drums, Babaganouj’s Charles Sale and The Creases’ Aimon Clark leading on guitar and Morning Harvey’s Steve Kempnich on bass.
